Job Summary
As the Head of Operations and Special Projects, you’ll be responsible for directing and managing the business development and profitable growth of GAPP (pronounced as ?i:ei:pi:pi) Logistics Company Ltd., a private
company registered and licensed in Tanzania. Additionally, this role will direct and manage the strategic and tactical elements of the business including but not limited to strategic planning, sales planning, executive
account maintenance, pricing programs, staff development, business process development, systems applications, fiscal planning and risk management. This is a high profile position that will see the post holder
representing the company in meetings, product pitching to customers, etc. So, this individual is required to develop and deploy best-in-class logistics processes and professionalism.

What you’ll do on a typical day:
? Maintain work schedules and work assignments; ensure time and attendance is properly maintained, monitored and approved in a timely manner
? Manage all equipment for efficient utilization, and coordinate all equipment maintenance needs
? Train, maintain and ensure Company policies, procedures and standard are known and followed including all health, safety and environmental procedures and policies.
What you need to succeed at GAPP:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
? Bachelor’s degree in business management, procurement and logistics, logistics and transport or equivalent qualification
? 2-3 years of experience one of which should be of managerial/supervisory role
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office and any of the specialized computer-based package.
? Availability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including planned and unplanned overtime, which may include weekends and public holidays.
It’d be great if you also have:
? Experience in supply chain management in a distribution environment
? Proven negotiation and influencing skills
? Effective coach and team builder
? Ability to solve problems and work cross functionally
? Experience with any ERP, whether it be for freight/transportation or Accounting systems
? Critical thinking and decision making skills; able to make effective decisions among broadly variable conditions
? Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
? Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develops and implements the overall business strategy and plan
2. Accountable for financial and service results of the company
3. Manages and identifies business risk and report them well in advance to the supervisor and the team
4. Creates and presents information to the Managing Director and other parties or as required
5. Creates and implements optimal organizational structure to meet the business strategy needs
6. Develops and mentors staff
7. Directs and manages sales and marketing efforts
8. Identifies, negotiates and contracts with customers and supply chain solution providers to maximize value and enable an executable sustainable and scalable operations.
9. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
